Core Engineering & Electrical Architecture

500 A High-Current Interface

The adapter is rated for 500 A and 1,000 V DC, providing a high-current interface for compatible DC fast charging applications. As a passive charging adapter, it does not determine the actual charging power delivered to the vehicle. Charging power is controlled by the DC charging equipment and vehicle according to battery voltage, requested current, charging-system limits, thermal conditions, and charging-network control. The adapter therefore should not be assigned a fixed charging power such as 250 kW solely from its current and voltage ratings.

Passive Power-Path Architecture

The adapter functions as a passive DC charging interface between the NACS charging connector and CCS1 vehicle inlet. It does not convert AC power to DC power, convert one DC voltage to another voltage, increase charging power, or act as an independent EV charger. The adapter also does not perform charging-protocol translation. Charging communication is maintained between compatible charging equipment and the vehicle through the applicable interface and communication path.

Dual-Interface Temperature Protection

High-current DC charging requires effective thermal monitoring at the electrical connection points. The adapter integrates temperature sensors at both the NACS interface and the CCS1 interface. During charging, the temperature monitoring system continuously supervises the connection areas. If an over-temperature condition is detected, the protection system interrupts the charging control signal so that the charging session is stopped before continued excessive heating can occur.

Low Contact Resistance System

The conductive contact system is designed for high-current DC charging with a specified contact resistance of no more than 0.5 mΩ. Low contact resistance helps reduce resistive losses and localized heat generation at the high-current interface. Final charging performance still depends on the complete electrical path, including the charging connector, adapter contacts, vehicle inlet, cable assembly, and actual operating current.

Enclosure & Materials Safety:
The adapter uses a Type 3S enclosure for demanding EV charging environments. The enclosure is designed to provide environmental protection appropriate to the certified Type 3S classification. Housing materials meet UL 94 V-0 flammability requirements. Type 3S should be treated as the certified enclosure classification for this product and should not be converted into an IP rating or another enclosure classification unless separately evaluated and documented.

Compatibility & Regulatory Compliance

CCS1 Vehicle Side Compatibility

The vehicle side is designed for electric vehicles equipped with a compatible CCS Combo 1 (CCS1) DC vehicle inlet. Physical connector compatibility alone does not guarantee that every CCS1 vehicle can charge from every NACS DC charging station. Successful charging may also depend on vehicle software, charging-station software, communication compatibility, network authorization, and vehicle-manufacturer policies.

NACS Equipment Compatibility

The charging-equipment side is designed to accept a compatible SAE J3400 / NACS DC charging connector. The adapter should only be used where the charging equipment operator and vehicle manufacturer permit the use of the applicable third-party adapter. Access to individual charging networks can be controlled through software, vehicle identification, account authorization, or network policy.

UL 2252 Certified EV Adapter

The adapter is certified to UL 2252 (Adapters for Use with Electric Vehicle Couplers) for the applicable product configuration. UL 2252 addresses EV charging adapters used to convert the physical interface configuration between charging equipment and a vehicle while maintaining the required charging communication path. Certification covers 500 A rated current and 1,000 V DC rated voltage.

SAE J3400 & J3400/1 Validation

The adapter has been tested and validated to applicable SAE J3400 and SAE J3400/1 requirements. SAE J3400 defines the North American Charging System conductive charging interface, while SAE J3400/1 addresses the safety and performance considerations associated with adapters between SAE J3400 and SAE J1772 / CCS1 charging interfaces.
